Description
This online course supports community services support workers to build the knowledge, awareness and practical skills needed to provide culturally safe, trauma-aware and respectful care. The course explores culture, cultural safety, awareness, sensitivity and competence, alongside the impacts of colonisation, intergenerational trauma and the Stolen Generations. Helping workers understand how history and lived experience can influence behaviour, communication and engagement with services. Participants gain practical guidance on culturally safe practices, appropriate language, consent, privacy and respectful approaches to care, enabling them to support Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in a way that promotes dignity, trust, self-determination and positive outcomes in community services settings.
