Description
This online course builds confidence and capability for support workers assisting people with complex physical and health needs. This course explains spinal cord injury in clear, easy-to-understand language and explores how SCI can affect movement, sensation, bladder and bowel function, autonomic responses, mental wellbeing and daily living. Learners will gain practical knowledge about preventing common complications such as pressure injuries and autonomic dysreflexia, using assistive technology safely, supporting independence and dignity and recognising when to document and escalate concerns. With a strong focus on respectful, trauma-informed and person-centred support, this course equips support workers with strategies they can apply immediately in real-world practice.
Objectives
